Athens Sailing Academy teaches you to Sail in Greece

Sailing Instruction & Adventure in Greece

Athens Sailing Academy is an English-speaking sailing school based in Greece, specializing in sailing instruction and sailing holiday experiences. As the oldest American Sailing Association (ASA) school in Europe, we’ve been proudly teaching sailors since 2005.

Our courses take place in the Saronic Gulf and the Cyclades Islands — two of Greece’s most beautiful and reliable sailing regions. Conditions are ideal for learning, with winds ranging from a gentle Force 3 to a more exhilarating Force 6, while seas remain generally calm and comfortable.

Enjoy abundant sunshine, warm waters, and stress-free sailing — no fleece or foul weather gear required! Along the way, you’ll explore authentic Greek islands and harbors, meet friendly locals, and discover hidden coves and quiet bays rarely visited by other yachts.

Learn to sail — and experience Greece the way few ever do.

HOW TO CERTIFY FOR SAILING SCHOOL LICENSES

The Athens Sailing Academy offers both novice and experienced sailors the opportunity to expand their sailing skills through our expertly designed programs. Each course is structured as a one-week sailing trip, available in both private and group formats.

Upon successful completion, participants receive an internationally recognized skipper license, enabling them to charter their own Bareboat Yacht from any major yacht charter company. The ASA license is accepted worldwide — across the USA, Europe, Asia, and Australia. For more advanced sailors seeking to enhance their seamanship, our mile-building trips offer the perfect challenge. These voyages focus on extended sailing routes, watchkeeping, and night sailing, providing invaluable experience for those eager to deepen their knowledge and confidence at sea.

The Athens Sailing Academy also provides private tuition options with our team of qualified instructors. Couples can join a private one-week course for a more personalized learning experience, progressing at their own pace in a relaxed setting. Families are warmly invited to learn and sail together — parents and children (including teens) can enjoy the experience while also qualifying for their Skipper’s License.

Sailors who already hold a Skipper’s License can continue advancing their expertise through our higher-level ASA courses, leading up to the Coastal Skipper certification.

The school is great, located on a Greek island, you are instantly in old Greece. The instruction was great, covering more than the teaching materials offered. The sailing and winds are fantastic.
